Throw Back Thursday #1

Hey, y'all! I'm re-reading my favorite parts of Elizabeth Camden's Into The Whirlwind. Definitely one of my all-time favorite novels! It is the perfect mixture of romantic suspense, and realistic scenarios. It was one of the first book reviews on our blog. I can hardly believe it's been almost a year since I last read this book! I still get the same contentment from reading it that I did then!

Book Review: The Lady of Bolton Hill

Review by Marianne
Title: The Lady of Bolton Hill
Author: Elizabeth Camden
Rating: 4.5/5
Age Recommendation: 12+

Plot: The last time Clara Endicott and Daniel Tremain were together Daniel was a young man with no fortune whatsoever, his father had just died and he had to be the one to provide for his mother and three sisters. Clara was a wealthy young woman who had high ambitions to become a great writer. Because of her father's wishes, she moved from Baltimore to London to live with her aunt. Twelve years later Clara returns to Baltimore and finds Daniel a powerful and wealthy industrialist. Their old friendship comes to life and quickly develops into a romance, but when Daniel's workers believe they aren't receiving proper wages, arguments and riots threaten to separate them forever.
I ADORED this book. It was amazing! The storyline was so interesting and I couldn't but it down! There was never a dull moment in this book and I enjoyed every moment!
Characters: Is it possible to fall in love with every character in a book? I think it is. That was how I felt about this book. Every character was absolutely perfect in personality and development.
Emotion: This book was a little more on the suspense side than what I normally read (especially in the end) but I loved the excitement! I will definitely read this again and recommend it to many.
My Thoughts: I have read one other book by Elizabeth Camden called "Into the Whirlwind" and really enjoyed it. (You can read my review for "Into the Whirlwind" HERE!) This book was great and I wouldn't change a thing about it! I can't wait to read Elizabeth Camden's book "Against the Tide" which follows the story of one of the characters that I got to read a bit about in this one. The reason I recommended ages 12+ is because there are several mentions of Opium, and a brief mentioning of a prostitute (no descriptions, I promise!) As I said before, I couldn't put it down and I will recommend it to many, many readers.

Book Review: Into the Whirlwind

Review by Marianne
 Title: Into the Whirlwind
Author: Elizabeth Camden
Rating: 5/5
Age Recommendation: 12+

Plot: Mollie Knox's life seems perfect. She is the owner of the 57th Illinois watch company in Chicago and is supplying watches to Hartman's department store. She has the best employees one could wish for and a respectable bank account. What more could she ask for? But when the Great Chicago fire occurs, leaving her not only without a job, but also a home, she struggles to rebuild.
Zack Kazmarek is an outstanding lawyer for Hartman's department store. He is fearless and daring, and used to getting whatever he wishes for. Then he meets Mollie Knox, an incredible businesswoman who completely changes his world and he finds himself captivated. But when a hero from her past steps into the picture, Zack discovers he has some competition for Mollie's affections.

This book was wonderful! I was entertained through the entire thing. The plot was very exiting and the author did a good job keeping it interesting. I will definitely want to read this one again soon! The one thing that I would've changed a bit was the romance. Although this was a romance story, the characters weren't very romantic and only said a few romantic things to one another. This of course isn't a big disappointment, it is just an observation and opinion.

Characters: The characters in this book were great! I found it very easy to relate to Mollie even though she wasn't very much like me. Zack was a rather stubborn man, but he made me laugh most of all. And the mysterious hero from her past was very polite and kind-hearted.

Emotion: Sometimes the beginning of a book is a bit boring, and it takes me a while to get entirely interested. This book was not one of those. I loved every minute of it and I can not wait to read more of Elizabeth Camden's books in the future.

My thoughts: Overall this was an amazing story. The author was very eloquent in how she described each and every scene and I never wanted to stop reading it. Before reading this book I didn't know too much about the Great Chicago fire. I learned a lot from this novel and I can tell the author did her research when writing it.
