About Us

Hello! We are the Dashwood sisters and we would like to share a bit about each of us and how we do things here on our blog! We are home-schooled, followers of Jesus Christ, and lovers of books and music. We have created this blog to share a peek into our lives and hopefully encourage those who read it.

Hi! I'm Elinor, I'm fifteen and in the tenth grade. My favorite subject is Chemistry, I absolutely adore the woods, Converse shoes, and anything to do with Autumn. My favorite pastimes are listening to music, reading, playing the guitar, crafting, hiking, daydreaming, and playing Nancy Drew games (my favorite is The Captive Curse). Some of my favorite books are The Book Thief, (Nancy Drew) The Hidden Staircase, Isle of Swords/Isle of Fire, The Fairest Beauty, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, and The Hobbit. My favorite movies are The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Amazing Spider-Man, Pride and Prejudice, The Dark Knight, The Hobbit, and The Book Thief. My favorite flowers are honeysuckles and peonies, my favorite animals are owls, and my favorite band would have to be either Owl City or Rend Collective Experiment.

I want to become a chemical engineer when I finish high school, mainly because of my love for math and science. I am currently hand-making and selling bookmarks and jewelry which you can read about at my blog.

Hello! I'm Marianne and I would be delighted to share a bit about me! Well, I'm 13 years old and in the 8th grade. You already know that I am home-schooled and a follower of Christ. My favorite subject in school is Guitar. I love playing Nancy Drew PC games, and my favorite one is The Ghost of Thornton Hall. Some of my favorite past-time activities include painting, reading, writing, spending time with my family, writing blog posts, and listening to music. I adore music!

Some of my favorite musical artists are Rend Collective, Royal Tailor, TobyMac, Mandisa, Everfound, Owl City and Jamie Grace. Some of my favorite authors are Melanie Dickerson, Andrew Klavan, Julie Klassen, William Shakespeare, C. S. Lewis, Elizabeth Camden, Kristy Cambron, Tracie Peterson, Sarah Mally, and Anne Elizabeth Stengl. My favorite movies/TV shows are The Book Thief, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit, The Amazing Spider-Man (1 and 2), Sherlock, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Call The Midwife, and Les Miserables. My favorite foods are cupcakes, lettuce wraps, cashews, and chicken enchiladas. My favorite books are The Bible, The Butterfly and the Violin, Into The whirlwind, Before You Meet Prince Charming,  The Chronicles of Narnia, The Tutor's Daughter, The Miner's Lady, and Romeo and Juliet. And lastly, (we can't forget this one :)) my favorite super heroes are Spider-Man and Captain America.

When it comes to careers (I know I'm only 13, but it's never too early to start considering these things) I am currently interested in social work, particularly in becoming a case worker for DCS.

We rate books and movies depending on how much we liked them, 1/5 being the worst, and 5/5 being the best.

1/5- We totally hated this book or movie. Either it had inappropriate content or the story was just plain awful. We would not recommend this book or movie to anybody, and if it is a book, we will not read another one by this author.

2/5- We just didn't like this book or movie. While it may have had a really good story-line or a few elements we liked, we did not enjoy this book or movie over-all. We would not recommend this book or movie.

3/5- We liked this book, but there may have been several things that we disliked. Our feelings for this book or movie are neutral. It may have had a good plot, but was boring; or it might have had things we really liked and an equal amount of things we really didn't like. We might recommend it to a specific audience.

4/5- We really liked this book or movie. There may have been a few things that we didn't like, but over-all it was a good book or movie that we really enjoyed. We would recommend it to many.

5/5- We completely LOVED this book or movie! It was everything we expected and more! It was very memorable and will be re-read or re-watched several times! We would recommend it to anyone.
